Militant mobilisation on the International Day of Action in solidarity with the Venezuelan people in Mexico
In fulfilment of the internationalist tasks and the call of the Coordinating Committee of the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) to make this 3 February an international day of action in solidarity with the Venezuelan people, militant actions against US imperialism were carried out in various parts of the world, one month after the military aggression of US imperialism against Venezuela and the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
In Mexico, this call was widely disseminated by the Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo and the AIL (Mx) Promotion Committee, leading to a unified response from various popular organisations in Oaxaca, the city of resistance.
This is a brief report on the activities carried out on the International Day of Action.

Oaxaca, city of resistance.
Present for Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico and Our America!
The Alianza de Organizaciones y Pueblos en Resistencia (AOPR), consisting of the Comité por la Defensa de los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas (CODEDI), the Comité de Defensa de los Derechos de los Pueblos de Oaxaca (CODEPO), the Frente Popular 14 de junio (FP14J), the Frente Indígena Zapoteco (FIZ), the Council of Indigenous Communities of the Sierra Sur (COCISS), the Movement of the Democratic Left of Oaxaca (MOID) and the Sol Rojo People’s Movement (CP-Sol Rojo) organised a march from Parque del Llano to the US Consulate in the centre of the city of resistance.
It was a militant march, with more than 400 people participating, carrying flags of the various organisations as well as flags of Venezuela and Palestine. At the head of the contingents, the flags of the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) flew defiantly, with their powerful call to build an anti-imperialist front in Mexico and the world. The AIL (Mx) support committee distributed hundreds of leaflets during the march, and comrades from Periódico Mural distributed of their newspaper, contributing to the analysis of the current situation.
During the march and upon arrival in front of the consulate, posters and banners were hung and the most important slogans of the mobilisation were written on the walls. In addition, a huge Venezuelan flag with the slogan ‘FUERA YANQUIS DE AMÉRICA LATINA SOL ROJO-LAI’ (Yankee out of Latin America, Red Sun-AIL) was painted on the pavement.
A lively rally took place at the consulate, attended by all the organisations, including Mexican citizens and foreign tourists who happened to be passing by and took the floor to express their solidarity with the Venezuelan people and against the imperialist government of the United States. A US citizen asked to speak, saying: ‘I am ashamed of my country, I am ashamed of the way Trump has attacked Venezuela and kidnapped Maduro, I am ashamed of ICE and the arrest of Mexicans whom the United States considers illegal’. His words and those of all the speakers were cheered by those present. A young Palestinian woman also came on stage with tears in her eyes and thanked the Mexican people for their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Many people on the street raised their fists or applauded this demonstration, which took place one month after the US military attack on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. At the end of the rally, as is fitting, a stinking flag of US imperialism was burned.
From the CP-Sol Rojo and the work of the AOPR (whose mission is to fight oppression and war against the people), we are convinced that it is possible to build the militant unity of the forces of the people to defend ourselves against fascism and imperialist war, to thwart the plans of the reactionaries, and also to defend our people’s right to self-determination and national liberation.
Let us build the Anti-Imperialist Front in Mexico, Our America and the world!
Against imperialist war, people’s war!
Yankees out of Latin America!
Yankees out of Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Palestine and the whole world!
Yankee go home!
Death to Yankee imperialism!
