Antiimperialists hold a successful event with more than 120 people at UFPE.
A victorious antiimperialist event brought together more than 120 activists and supporters at UFPE to denounce the servile role that the old Brazilian state and its repressive apparatus play under orders from Washington. The event, organized by student groups and the Antiimperialist League (LAI), reaffirmed the urgency of intensifying the struggle to defeat the “Great Satan” (the USA) in all oppressed countries. During the activity, the Military Police of Pernambuco carried out surveillance and harassment, confirming its role as a lackey of Yankee imperialism.
Activists and representatives of movements such as the League of Poor Peasants (LCP) and the Urban Movement of Homeless Workers (MUST) saluted national liberation struggles in Iran, Palestine, and Venezuela, emphasizing that imperialism is in crisis and falling apart. It was denounced that educational reforms and budget cuts in Brazil are “pen strokes” coming directly from Washington, D.C., implemented by the current administration. The resistance of the masses was celebrated with the announcement of the release of a student political prisoner, who had been detained by the Military Police in previous demonstrations against the Zionist entity.
The event ended in a militant tone with the burning of the flags of the USA and the “Little Satan,” the Nazi-Zionist “Israel.” Participants reinforced the internationalist call in solidarity with the People’s War in India and against militarization promoted by the ruling classes. With chants such as “Yankees, Go Home!”, the youth and the exploited masses showed that repression does not discourage the people, but rather fuels revolutionary hatred against imperialist domination and its local lackeys.
