The International Day of Action against Operation Kagaar
During the weekend of the International Day of Action against Operation Kagaar (28 March), on Sunday (29 March), we held a discussion event on the topic “Are there just wars?”. First, an introduction to the subject was given, addressing wars typical of the imperialist era, such as imperialist plunder wars (the First World War) and national liberation wars (Algeria). Then, a brief overview of Palestine and people’s wars was presented, with particular attention paid to the situation in India, which also sparked extensive discussion. Among the range of opinions, there was the greatest agreement in condemning imperialist war and recognizing the need to oppose militarism also in Finland.
After the event, a group of antiimperialists went to take a solidarity photo for India in front of the historic Näsinkallio, also sending greetings to the upcoming founding congress of the AIL in Ecuador. A few passing motorists stopped to show their support.
