International Week of Action in Solidarity with the People of India
India/International. The Week of Action in solidarity with the people of India, called by the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL), has concluded. The campaign was carried out from 26 September to 3 October, with initiatives taking place in several countries.
In Bangladesh, a march was held in Dhaka, starting from the Shahbagh National Museum and heading towards the Raju Memorial Sculpture. Students and the Committee Against Violence Against Maoists and Adivasis in India denounced what they described as a climate of terror, persecution and imprisonment in India.
In Switzerland, an action was held in Zurich with the participation of Partizan and other organizations.
In Greece, the KKE (m-l) [Communist Party of Greece (Marxist-Leninist)] called for a gathering at the Propylaea in Athens on Saturday, 3 October, joining the international call.
In France, ongoing student protests expressed solidarity with the People’s War in India, commemorating the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) with a banner reading: “Glory to Comrade Basavaraj. Long Live the People’s War.”
In the Spanish State, posters were put up and bulletins distributed in Valencia.
In Chile, activists from the Anti-Imperialist Front (FAI) carried out graffiti actions in support of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and the People’s War.
In Mexico, the People’s Front–Red Sun and the Promoting Committee of the Anti-Imperialist League (Mexico)published a call and organized various activities.
On 1 October, simultaneous actions were carried out in different parts of Mexico. In Mexico City, posters were put up at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In Oaxaca, a rally was held and leaflets were distributed in front of what the organizers called the “Palace of Ignominy” (Government Palace). Posters and dazibaos were also put up at banks described by the organizers as institutions of imperialism.
Three central points were put forward during the different activities carried out in Mexico:
- Joining the call of the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) to organize actions throughout the world.
- Denouncing what the organizers describe as repression and genocide committed by the Modi government against the Adivasi peoples and revolutionaries in India.
- Denouncing what they describe as Modi’s plan to kill the 10 political prisoners of Jhiramghati.
