AGEB and ADHK organised a joint symposium in Zurich
On Sunday, 22 December, a symposium was held in Zurich under the joint organisation of the Association of Working Women Migrants in Europe (AGEB) and the Confederation for Democratic Rights (ADHK) titled ‘In the Grip of Imperialist War: The Developments in the Middle East and the Situation of the Turkish State’.
The event opened with a minute’s silence in memory of those who have died fighting for revolution and communism.
In his speech, the representative of AGEB, who took the floor, explained that, according to the general definition of imperialism, the contradictions and competition between imperialists are increasingly manifesting themselves. Since the imperialists cannot find a solution to the economic crisis, they are trying to implement their aggressive policies, which are focused on increasing profit rates, intensifying exploitation and establishing greater market dominance, seeking new markets and triggering wars or provoking chaos in many parts of the world. Referring to the recent Israeli occupation attacks and massacres against Palestine and Lebanon, as well as the events in Syria, the representative emphasised that it was impossible to establish a central administration in Syria in the short term and that the Republic of Turkey, as a loyal servant of US imperialism, had ended up in this impasse in the region.
The representative of the AGEB emphasised the importance of developing the anti-imperialist struggle and stated that the AIL, which started its founding work on 2 June 2024, is very important for the united struggle in such a process, in which the contradictions of the imperialists are intensifying and turning the whole world into a hell. He emphasised the necessity of expanding and uniting the anti-imperialist struggle and invited the ADHK to participate in the work of the AIL – Antiimperialist League. The representative of the ADHK then took the floor. He emphasised that the conflicts of interest between the imperialist powers are leading to conflicts in many regions of the world and that the oppressed peoples are paying the highest price for the wars that are breaking out. Referring to the ‘Anti-imperialist Campaign Against War, Step Up the Struggle for Socialism, Shape the Future’ campaign, the ADHK representative emphasised that wars lead to migration, poverty and massacres. He underlined the need to develop the anti-imperialist struggle. In the European geography in which we live, especially after the war between Ukraine and Russia, economic crises and housing problems are seriously on the agenda, and emphasised the importance of fighting together against them.
After the 30-minute presentations, there was a short break. After the break, the audience had their say. Many attendees enriched the podium with suggestions, comments and questions for the representatives of AGEB and ADHK.
After the questions were answered by the representatives of AGEB and ADHK, the symposium ended with a call to arms.
