Brazil: The ‘Palestine Will Win’ festival joins the International Anti-Imperialist League’s worldwide campaign
At the suggestion of the AND cultural collective, those present at the political event gathered behind the banner signed by the movement with the slogan ‘Palestine is our country! Together we will win!’
This was the highlight of the event, after the organisations and personalities present had spoken on stage. Rawa Alsagheer, coordinator of the Samidoun network for solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and a member of Masar Badil ‘Alternative Revolutionary Palestinian Way’, gave a 20-minute speech in which she exposed the Zionist genocide and, above all, highlighted the revolutionary optimism of the Palestinian resistance. Dr Abdel Latif Hassan, a leading figure in the Palestinian community in Brazil and editorial consultant for AND, for whom the festival was ‘a truly Palestinian event’ for its strong defence of the Palestinian armed resistance, its optimism and its democratic character, also spoke. The Palestinian cause was also championed by Silvio, representing the collective ‘Arabs and Jews for Peace’, and Giz Martins, a well-known journalist from Complexo da Maré and a supporter of the Palestinian cause.
