Multiple Protests Against the “Madrid Forum” and the Student Struggle in the Santiago
A turbulent day unfolded this Thursday, September 3, beginning in the morning with a powerful mobilization of secondary school and university students. Setting out from Baquedano Plaza Dignidad the demonstration advanced toward the front of the Catholic University, where it was met with heavy repression, prompting the students to fight back and resist. Various clashes took place while the arch-reactionary Kast received his Argentine counterpart, Javier Milei, at La Moneda Palace, both lackeys of U.S. imperialism.
In the afternoon, the protests resumed, this time explicitly against the “Madrid Forum.” Various antiimperialist, antifascist, classbased and popular forces stood out, coming together around the call to protest and organizing a march from Paseo Ahumada and Alameda to Plaza Dignidad. There, they joined forces with students and masses who had also gathered at this historic site of mobilization in response to the call issued by student and feminist forces.
We can state unequivocally that in Santiago de Chile, the disastrous, sellout and arch-reactionary 5th gathering of Trump’s and the United States’ fascist and anti-people puppets in Latin America did not go unnoticed.
New signs of a counter-ebb in the class struggle in our country are emerging, and there is no doubt that, gradually, the popular struggle will advance until it reaches higher forms.
