Antiimperialist day in Colombia of action against US aggression in Venezuela
On 3 February, numerous activists and popular organisations from various sectors of society demonstrated in Medellín against imperialism and the US attacks on Venezuela. The mobilisation had been called for internationally by the Coordinating Committee for the Founding of the Antiimperialist League (AIL).
Several organisations took up the call and organised various activities. The central rally took place at the University of Antioquia. There, participants gave speeches, chanted slogans against US imperialism and declared their support for the just struggles of peoples worldwide.
After the rally, dozens of demonstrators took to Barranquilla Street, temporarily blocking traffic and informing passers-by about the goals of the day of action. During the demonstration, leaflets were distributed in which the activists condemned US aggression and any form of cooperation with the aggressor.
At the same time, the movement promoted participation in the National Meeting Against US Aggression in Latin America, an initiative of the Coordination Centre for Popular Struggles (CLP). This meeting is aimed at all individuals, groups and social processes that want to come together to develop common strategies and actions against the imperialist policies of the United States in the region.
