Revolutionary and Democratic Organizations in Europe Come Together in Cologne to Establish a Central Platform

Representatives of numerous revolutionary and democratic organizations from different social struggle movements are expected to attend a meeting to discuss the possibilities for joint struggle against the institutionalization of fascism in Turkey, the rise of the far right and racism in Europe, and imperialist policies of aggression, war, and repression.
Revolutionary, democratic, and progressive organizations and groups active in various European countries will gather on Saturday, October 17, at the headquarters of the European Alevi Confederation (AABK) in Cologne to explore opportunities for joint struggle and solidarity.
The main agenda of the meeting will focus on the need for a united struggle against the repressive policies of the fascist AKP-MHP government in Turkey, the attacks of far-right and fascist movements gaining strength in Europe and various parts of the world, and imperialist aggression and preparations for war.
Discussions are expected to address opportunities for joint action among organizations and groups from different political traditions, based on a minimum common ground, as well as ways to strengthen collective struggle.
The meeting aims to strengthen solidarity among organizations fighting racism, fascism, imperialist aggression, and attacks on democratic rights across Europe, while establishing a common basis for struggle. Drawing on previous experiences of united struggle, participants will examine possibilities for acting together in the coming period.
In the call issued by the Initiative of Revolutionary Democratic Communes in Europe (ADDKİ), the European Confederation of Democratic Rights (ADHK), the Association of Migrant Workers in Europe (AGEB), the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL), the Internationalist Struggle Collective, the Confederation of Workers from Turkey in Europe (ATİK), the Confederation of Oppressed Migrants in Europe (AVEG-KON), and the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP), the organizations emphasize the intensification of imperialist aggression and the threat of war worldwide, increasing military expenditures in Europe, the rise of racism and hostility toward migrants and refugees, and growing attacks on democratic rights.
Other issues highlighted in the call include the continuation of the state’s repressive policies in Turkey and Kurdistan, the denial of the Kurdish nation’s national and democratic rights, policies targeting the Alevis’ demands for equal citizenship, and repression against workers, intellectuals, artists, and the political opposition.
In response to this situation, the organizations behind the call emphasize the importance of joint action among revolutionary, democratic, and progressive organizations from different political traditions, based on minimum common principles.
The call expresses the objective of establishing a new platform of unity and solidarity capable of strengthening solidarity across Europe and developing a collective struggle against common challenges.
In addition to the organizations that initiated the call, the following groups are expected to participate as attendees or observers:
