I Sing to You, Freedom: For Justice and Dignity
Since the events of May 19, 2022, several comrades have faced prosecution. To date, six comrades have been acquitted, while three have been convicted on the basis of evidence described by supporters as insufficient, including the testimony of an informant and evidence reportedly obtained through international criminal assistance. Reports have also alleged that Omar was subjected to torture in various detention centers. Popular organizations and solidarity groups have denounced these developments as part of what they describe as a policy of persecution and criminalization.
In response, the Anti-Imperialist Front EC organized the solidarity concert “I Sing to You, Freedom: For Justice and Dignity” on Friday, September 25, at the Demetrio Aguilera Malta Hall of the Ecuadorian House of Culture.
The event brought people together through art, culture, and grassroots organizing, expressing solidarity with those prosecuted and imprisoned and keeping their situation visible.
The concert was an expression of solidarity, remembrance, and resistance, demonstrating how cultural initiatives can also serve as spaces for collective support and mobilization.
