May Day in Rennes
This Friday, the Student Trade Union Federation and the Communist Youth gathered with other organizations for a red and militant march to reaffirm that May 1st is a day of struggle for the working class.
This struggle is inseparable from antifascism and anti-imperialism. All over the world, workers are exploited by the bourgeoisie. The rise of fascism worldwide threatens our rights: working conditions, retirement age, fewer public holidays, etc. Imperialism, for its part, enables the bourgeoisie to exploit entire peoples in order to generate ever more profit, at the expense of their right to self-determination.
As organizations of struggle and class, we must actively demonstrate our solidarity with oppressed peoples and fight against reactionary tendencies within our neighborhoods, workplaces, and universities.
This May 1st was also an opportunity to reaffirm, in particular, our unwavering support for the Palestinian people in struggle, because while Palestine embodies the most violent expression of imperialism, it is also where one of the most advanced forms of resistance to imperialism is developing. Support for the Palestinian people and for all our comrades who have been repressed for expressing this solidarity, such as Teba, Alex, and many others!
May 1st is red, and it will remain so!
