A Talk in Zurich, the Attacks of U.S. Imperialism and Israeli Zionism Against Iran and the Revolutionary Stance.
On March 15, 2026, a talk was held at the Zurich Youth and Cultural Center focusing on the attacks of U.S. imperialism and Israeli Zionism against Iran.
Before the talk began, the massacres of the month of March were commemorated. A moment of silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the massacres of Gazi and Ümraniye (March 12–15), Halabja and Beyazıt (March 16), the 1992 Cizre Newroz (March 21), and Kızıldere (March 30), as well as for the martyrs of revolution and communism, represented by Salih Müslim, a member of the Presidential Council of the PYD, who passed away on March 11.
In the presentation, a general evaluation of the process was discussed, with a focus on the functioning of the imperialist system. It was stated:
“Imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism, is a monopolistic, decaying, and dying system. Determined by its internal contradictions, this system inevitably creates a destructive order of oppression and exploitation. The deepening and expansion of exploitation, the unlimited destruction of nature and living spaces, the support of all reactionary forces, the creation and perpetuation of hostility among peoples, the obstruction of peoples’ right to self-determination and national independence, and endless unjust wars of division are carried out for the redistribution of markets, energy resources, cheap labor, and raw materials. All of this serves a single purpose: to maintain the domination of monopolies over the world.”
The presentation also emphasized that imperialist powers, in their search for new markets and in order to overcome the effects of economic crises, are both engaged in intense competition among themselves and, as in the case of U.S. imperialism, carry out direct attacks in many regions of the world or provoke wars. It was stated that this competition leads to the formation of various imperialist blocs, and it was underlined that the struggle for hegemony among powers such as the United States, the European Union, and BRICS is increasingly causing harsher conflicts.
The presentation noted that wars have deepened in many parts of the world in recent years and also evaluated the causes and current situation of the ongoing conflict marked by the attacks of Israeli Zionism and U.S. imperialism against Iran, as well as Iran’s response.
The presentation also addressed the position that revolutionaries and communists should take, emphasizing the following:
“The real cost of the conflict is borne by workers from Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, and other peoples of the region. Therefore, the task is neither to align with Western imperialist interventionism nor to line up behind the reactionary government in Iran. The essential task is to build an internationalist line of solidarity based on the independent class interests of the peoples of the region. While opposing imperialist wars of division, it is also necessary to defend the struggle for freedom of the Iranian working class and oppressed groups, and to demand that energy resources and strategic transit routes be placed under the control of the peoples rather than international monopolies this is a historical necessity.”
The presentation also stressed that the importance of the anti-imperialist struggle has increased even further today and highlighted the need to strengthen the Antiimperialist League.
After the presentation, participants were given the floor. Following questions and comments, the talk concluded with a summary speech, ending what was described as a productive discussion.
