The events in Brazil in support of and in solidarity with the struggle for Palestinian national liberation continue
On the 13th of October, as part of the international call called by the Anti-imperialist League (AIL) in support of the Palestinian National Resistance and in honour of the first anniversary of the operation to flood Al-Aqsa, a lively agitation with leaflets took place on Avenida Paulista in downtown São Paulo.
Around 15 people took part in the action. Several democratic and revolutionary organisations participated in the demonstration, such as the Brazilian Centre for Solidarity with the Peoples (Cebraspo), the Popular Women’s Movement (MFP), the Revolutionary Popular Student Movement (MEPR), the Red Unit – Revolutionary Youth League (UV-LJR), as well as activists from the Support Committee of the newspaper A Nova Democracia and the Vale dos Pomares Study Group (GEVP).
During the action, an LAI flag and banners with the words “Palestine resists!”
Palestine will triumph”, signed by Cebraspo, and “Palestine is our land! Together we will win!” signed by the AIL, as well as campaign posters and the Palestinian flag.
During the agitation, around 350 leaflets were distributed with the call for the campaign, which is available on the international organisation’s portal.
The activity was well received by passers-by: from a mother with her son, who asked to be photographed next to the banner and the Palestinian flag, to a Chinese worker who was in São Paulo for work and stopped to talk, in addition to holding the Palestinian flag and taking a photo. The man was very moved when one of the activists present gave a viva to the 75th anniversary of the Chinese revolution.
Proletarian internationalism was also expressed through the support of passing tourists, Afghans, Lebanese and Americans who, noticing the agitation and seeing the Palestinian flag, soon raised their fists and declared “Free Palestine!
A supporter who went through the act and stopped to talk also pointed out that the weapons used by Israel in Palestine are also used in the favelas of São Paulo and throughout Brazil, and that the press monopolies omit this information, as well as relativising the ongoing genocide in Palestine, Brazil and the world.
On the megaphone, the agitators categorically stated that the true democrats could not fail to support the right of the Palestinians to defend themselves and expel the Zionist and imperialist invaders from their land, as was the case with the brilliant tactical offensive of the Al-Aqsa flooding. They stressed that this was one of the most important events of the century and that all the genocide committed by the genocidal state of Israel was fought by a powerful national liberation struggle.
The criminal invasion of Lebanon and the attacks on Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Iran, which should be condemned, were also denounced, and the opportunist government of Luís Inácio was called upon to break off relations with the Sinist state of Israel.
It was also pointed out that only with an international organisation the oppressed peoples of the world can support each other, lead their struggles in a coordinated way and create the conditions to raise the anti-imperialist struggles to a new level.
The action ended with flags being lit and the demonstrators raising slogans: “From the river to the sea, Palestine free now!” and “State of Israel, terrorist and murderer!” as well as “Long live the glorious Al-Aqsa Flood Operation!” and “Long live the Anti-imperialist League!”.
