Success of Antiimperialist Event in Seattle – USA
In Seattle, USA, on January 18 Seattle Revolutionary Youth invited Antiimperialist organizations in the Pacific Northwest of the USA to a meeting to discuss principles of Antiimperialism and how it relates to our local work, based around the Antiimperialist League’s (AIL) Call to Public document. The purpose of this meeting was to further unity between antiimperialist organization in the regions as to pave the way for more collaboration, strengthening our fist against our shared enemy; Imperialism. The founding documents of the AIL were disseminated during the meeting, and the prior to the meeting the participating organizations wrote reports on questions related to the content and significance of the Call to Public document.
During the meeting, Seattle Revolutionary Youth gave a presentation on their understanding of the AIL’s document and how it relates to the international and national situation, and the objective and subjective conditions. The presentation expressed that the objective conditions and subjective conditions internationally and nationally are ripe for revolution, and we can see this in the world with the mass uprisings of people against imperialism, and the wars being waged against it. The People’s Wars in Peru, Turkey, India, and the Philippines were highlighted as shining examples of the path to be followed by the international working class and oppressed peoples.
The latter half of the meeting consisted of a panel where the speakers were asked questions about the international and national situation, the increasing revolutionary tide internationally, and the importance of fighting revisionism with the same strength we fight imperialism. The following organizations participated: Antiimperialist Front, Eugene Revolutionary Women’s Committee, Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return, Portland Anti-Imperialist Action, and Seattle Revolutionary Youth.
During the discussion, the importance of the Heroic Palestinian national resistance in understanding the world situation was highlighted by speakers from all organizations. Panelists spoke on how support for the Palestinian national liberation struggle is the responsibility of all antiimperialists, and how opportunism and revisionism denounce and distort this revolutionary struggle towards their goal of pacifying the struggle against imperialism.
Other organizations who were in attendance include South Asians Resisting Imperialism, Anakbayan [Children of the People in Tagalog], Puget Sound Struggle Committees, Issaquah Revolutionary Youth, and Bellevue Revolutionary Youth.
The day before, on January 17, Nidal Seattle, a Palestinian liberation organization held a March and Rally in Seattle against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and in honor of Palestinian martyrs and valiant forces of resistance. The action placed emphasis on supporting the Palestinian resistance’s fight against the genocidal state of Israel backed by U.S. imperialism, drawing connections between US imperialism’s actions internationally and domestically with the increase in Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) terror and condemning the U.S bombing of Venezuela.
