Norway: Support and defend the people’s struggle in India!

In Norway, a street action was held in response to the massacre in India, in which the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and 27 other people’s fighters were killed.

Support and defend the people’s struggle in India!

Kampkomiteen sends our warmest lal salaam (“red salute”) to the murdered people’s heroes of India, to their Comrades and survivors, and to the Indian masses who are heroically fighting against the reactionary Modi regime and the imperialists who are plundering India.

On May 21, the reactionary Modi regime in India carried out a massacre of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and 27 other people’s combatants. The Indian state, under the leadership of the Modi regime, is waging a war – with fascist terror and barbaric brutality – against its own people in an attempt to drown the New Democratic Revolution in blood. The Modi regime is a lackey of imperialism, and their goal is to increase the oppression and exploitation of the Indian people.

The General Secretary was called Comrade Basavaraj, and was the supreme leader of the CPI (Maoist), which leads the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army of India. Since the Naxalbari uprising in 1967, in which poor peasants rose up powerfully against bureaucratic capitalism, imperialism and feudalism, the communists have led People’s War for New Democratic Revolution in India, mainly in the countryside among the poorest and most oppressed masses.

The heart of the New Democratic Revolution in India lies precisely in the area where the old State tried to surround and annihilate the people’s combatants, and where they succeeded in assassinating the General Secretary and 27 Comrades and combatants on May 21. In this area we find India’s poorest people and the Adivasis, India’s deeply oppressed indigenous people. These people have been displaced from their homes and have had their villages burned down to make way for imperialist monopoly companies that are plundering India in collusion with the reactionary Modi regime.

The war of extermination against the New Democratic Revolution is today called Operation Kagaar. Operation Kagaar began in 2017 as a continuation of the failed Operation Green Hunt. These operations are part of the war against the people – the war of the old Indian State against India’s poorest masses, and especially against those who provide leadership, organization and defense for this struggle: the CPI (Maoist), the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) and the revolutionary people’s committees that are building people’s power in the countryside.

The Coordinating Committee of the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) declares that this massacre is not only an attack on the Indian people, but part of a counter-revolutionary attack on the entire world revolutionary and anti-imperialist movement, on the workers and oppressed of all countries. The Coordinating Committee declares that the murdered leaders are pioneers on the path of humanity’s liberation. They state that the People’s War in India is burning like a torch of resistance against the imperialist system.

The old Indian State is doing everything it can to protect the interests of mining monopolies, power companies and other imperialist investments in India. Forests are being bombed, villages are being burned to the ground, thousands are being displaced and women, children and the elderly are being murdered purposefully and brutally. In short, the Modi regime is pursuing a policy of genocide against the revolutionary movement of poor farmers and Adivasis.

Behind the Indian reactionaries stands foreign imperialism, especially US imperialism, but also British imperialism and other imperialist powers. The Modi regime also maintains close relations with the Zionists in Israel. Operation Kagaar is essentially an operation to protect the interests of international finance capital and big business. It is a product of the imperialist system’s need to suppress local and national resistance with fascist terror.

The people’s armed liberation and resistance struggles against imperialism are not only just, they are necessary. This is the only path to liberation for the oppressed peoples and nations of the world.

The AIL Coordination Committee states: “Every revolutionary martyr is reborn in the collective will of the anti-imperialist resistance, the New Democratic Revolution, and the struggle for socialism.” They also state that the murder of Comrade Basavaraj is a call to intensify the

struggle against imperialist barbarity, and that it is the duty of anti-imperialists to defend the People’s Wars and unite the anti-imperialist struggles of the peoples in a common front.

The Struggle Committee calls on all our branches, all our friends and allies, all anti-imperialist forces, all progressive, democratic and revolutionary organizations in this country, to commemorate the fallen Comrades in India, to condemn and fight the Modi regime in India, to defend the people’s struggle and to wage war against Operation Kagaar and the Indian State’s war against the people.
