Antiimperialist, Anti-Repression Day.
On 23 May, driven by a deep sense of internationalism, various groups came together to discuss the issue of imperialism in this century.
In attendance were the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain, the feminist, pro-independence and class-based trade union COS, the youth wing of the pro-independence left, Arran, the National Campaign Against Genocide and Repression in India, and Healthcare Workers for Palestine. The debate was organised by the Spanish section of the International Antiimperialist League.
Palestinian activist Fayez Badawi gave a presentation reviewing the history of the Resistance in the Middle East.
During the debate, various positions were put forward regarding the role of Palestine and Iran in the anti-imperialist struggle. The peasant struggle in India and the current challenges facing the working class were also discussed.
In the afternoon, there was a communal meal and barbecue, accompanied by protest music. Attendees shared their views in an atmosphere of camaraderie.
All attendees agreed on the need to fight together against imperialism, despite their differing viewpoints.
The people united will never be defeated!
